State Maritime Academy Student Incentive Payment (SIP) Program

Thank you for participating in the Student Incentive Payments Program (SIP) and your commitment as a Strategic Sealift Officer graduate and licensed officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine. The success of SIP is primarily based on adherence to all aspects and processes of the Program particularly the Obligation and Compliance sections. Students are advised to review these processes both before and after graduation to ensure they understand their service obligation commitment. The following materials are provided to assist in understanding the program requirements upon graduation, and also to provide information for those students interested in enrolling in SIP. Students are encouraged to talk to their academy’s SIP coordinator to learn more about the Program’s eligibility requirements and the process on how to apply.
